Surprise!

What a fun day for surprises!

Earlier this afternoon I was busy in the kitchen when I heard the doorbell ring. I wasn't really expecting anyone, but I scurried out to see who was there. Just as I opened up the door to see who was there, I saw the Fed-ex guy just getting ready to drive off. I am actually expecting a package of something that I had ordered, but to my surprise, this box held something all together different than the one that I was anticipating.

Beautiful flowers! Gorgeous roses! A wonderful Mother's Day remembrance from Jed, Laura, Alli and Lucy. Thanks guys! They are a wonderful surprise.

So, a couple of hours passes and another unanticipated visitor comes to the door. I look out the window and this time I see my sister-in-law Becky's truck. I open the door to find Becky and Elias (my grand-nephew) standing on the doorstep. And they begin to sing. Happy Birthday, no less. The whole time they are singing I am thinking....hmmmmmmm, do they really think that it is my birthday? So, they finish and I say, "Hey! Thanks! That was great! Except there's just one problem. It's not my birthday." You know what It didn't seem to matter to them one bit. :) They proceeded to send me on a cold/warm/hot type of treasure hunt, for my present. I set off from the door with Eli yelling, "Hot", until I made a right turn and was met with "Cold, colder". So, I turned left and headed out to the truck as he yelled out "Warmer, warmer, hot!". But then I made the mistake of turning towards the truck and heard Eli respond with "COLD". So, I turned back around, and there in front of me, hidden down by a bush was a basil plant. I had told Becky the other day that I loved fresh basil, so when she saw this at the store today, she couldn't resist. Even if it wasn't really my birthday. Ahhhh! Thanks guys! I love basil and the surprise treasure hunt was lots of fun.

WOW! Those roses are breathtaking. I love how there are so many different and beautiful colors.

And I can almost taste the yummy pesto you can make with that basil plant. I realy need to plant some basil - I would LOVE fresh pesto! Enjoy it!

I think surprises are the best! (Especially on days that aren't birthdays!)
