Beep-beep!

Well, we have lived in New Mexico for almost 9 years now, and I can't remember EVER seeing a road-runner. Julia says she saw one at the Albuquerque airport, but I don't remember seeing it, if I did. Anyway, I just glanced out the window a minute ago and there was a roadrunner (at least I'm pretty sure it was) just sitting there chattering at a pretty blue pinion jay. I ran for the camera, but it took me a minute to get a data card in it. By the time I got out there it was up on the fence, getting ready to fly into the neighbors yard.

The pinion jay has been harassing and chasing the big fat robins around the yard for a couple of days now. The robins took a seat up on the back fence to watch the antics between the jay and the roadrunner. Pretty fun stuff to watch! But then, Julia and I are both pretty sick of being sick and are easily entertained.

Well if you'd wanted to see one you should have had Papa draw you one! He's a professional road-runner artist I think :)

No Way!! That is so cool! What an awesome picture! My mom is going to be very jealous... I don't know if she's seen one "in the wild" yet, but she always used to talk about how she had never seen a roadrunner in New Mexico except at the zoo. I think I saw one once in a motel parking lot in Albuquerque... but I'm not sure. I love the picture!

addendum to what Elizabeth wrote:
My Mom swears that Roadrunners only exist in Wiley Coyote cartoons. Earlene, you should write Mom and tell her this. (Though beware: she may not believe you...)
