Caliente!

OK--true confession time. One of my big wishes in life is that I could be a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir...if just for a day. I know. Crazy! I have several acquaintances and two dear friends who are members of it and I feel envy every time I see them sing. The big problem is that I don't sing well enough to be in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. :( But, I do love to sing. We don't even have a ward choir at present and I miss the chance to sing. I sing in my car and in the house and stuff, but sometimes it is just fun to sing with a choir.

Well, Julia's choir teacher, Ms. Nicols-Hircock, recently put together a sort of community choir--by the name of Caliente. It was originally organized because she is taking a group of people (some current students, some former students, and some interested community members) to Italy and Austria this summer, and they will be singing in various venues as they travel and tour. But, before long the choir grew to include many who are not going to Europe. I recently joined the choir (No, I am not going to Europe) and have been practising with them for the past several weeks. Fun stuff! I have loved being a part of it. We put on a fun concert last night, singing a variety of music, including some Christmas music. The concert was the culmination of our efforts these past few weeks and it is kinda sad to see it draw to a conclusion. I will miss going to the weekly practices. Back to singing in the shower, I guess. :)

Earlene,
I love it that we're in there together. It is fun, huh? The ONLY thing I would change is our shirts. Last night, I felt like saying, "Welcome to Caliente! Our specials tonight are the beef and cheese enchiladas with a side of green chile corn. Can I take your order?".
Hee hee.

Rachel--I know about the shirts. Only I think that they look like bowling team shirts. :) Ugh! By the way, you guys sounded great in your quartet last night.

Earlene, I too have always wanted to sing with the choir. I don't doubt but what we sing well enough but it is all the stuff you have to do to get in. You would think that with all the music lessons that I had it wouldn't be a problem for me, but I'm afraid it would. Anyway, I can always dream.

Me, I always wanted to be a rock star like Janis Joplin. You know how silly that was/is/will be. . . .

Anyway, it makes me happy and glad of heart to see you doing things that make you happy.

Love you, Sandra

Our town did the Italy singing tour last year - about half the choir was kids and half was adults from the community. it was funny because some kids from choir didn't go, but their parents did. they all really had a great time and a life-changing experience. don't give up the chance to go if you possibly can. LOVE YOU, charlotte
My dream was to be sing like Mama Cass - I ended up looking like her instead. sigh. One should always be more specific about one's dreams.
