Rexburg and beyond

I had a great time with Paul and Nicole in Rexburg last week. I spent the week with them while Julia and her friend, Morgan were at EFY at BYU-I. They were great hosts. I got to hear Nicole's rehearsal for her senior recital. Whoa! She is SO talented. She is an AMAZING pianist and also has a BEAUTIFUL singing voice. Hearing her was one of the high points of the week. They also taught me how to play Canasta--which we did before bed just about every night. Fun stuff!

I was also blessed to be able to spend one afternoon/evening at the Idaho Falls Temple. I attended three sessions while Nicole worked in the cafeteria. It was a nice, peaceful retreat.

I also spent one afternoon with my good friends Shelly and Lane Hansen. They are the funnest couple! They lived here in Farmington for about a year and moved to Blackfoot, Idaho, about 1 1/2 years ago. We went to lunch in Blackfoot and then spent the afternoon visiting at their home. I worked with both of them in YM/YW while they lived here. They have two boys and just had a baby girl a few months back. It was great fun to see them!

One night Paul and Nicole and I weeded for a couple of hours at the Married Student Gardens. They are communal gardens--the married students plant them and weed them and take care of them. And then when harvest time comes they can take whatever they can use. Each married student ward is assigned a couple of rows to take care of and very little had been done on Paul and Nicole's ward's rows. The three of us made a real dent in their row's weeds and had a fun time doing it. They finished up their rows with a few other ward members on Saturday morning, after I left. The garden is in the shadows of the new Rexburg Temple which is under construction, so it was fun to see that, too. You can see it in the background of one of the pictures that I posted. The garden is HUGE, so I couldn't take one picture, but am including a few different pictures.

Well, I will post more pictures tomorrow and write a bit about our fun day at Grand Tetons, Jackson Hole, Driggs, etc. Until later....

MOM -

I got an e-mail from the stake gardens specialist with a new (adjusted) assignment of rows. Only one of those peas rows is ours, PLUS the two potatoes rows to the left are now ours... oh well. We'll go up and work on those too I guess. Actually, the ward specialist is starting to make assignments now. Good to see.

We loved having you up! Thanks for coming, and thanks for posting!

Ah...the good old days of married student gardens......what a great mom you are - even helping out other students :)

And the temple sure is popping up. I can't wait to come up for the open house when it happens. Makes me miss Rexburg!
