What a joy it was to be able to head up to Oregon to help celebrate Grandma Lusk's 93rd birthday! I was able to pick Grandma Marilyn up at the airport and spend a day and a half visiting with her and celebrating Grandma Lusk's birthday. I hadn't seen Grandma and Grandpa in several years, so it was a real treat to see them again. They share a room in a nursing home in Clackamas...it is a blessing that they can have this time together and they seem fairly content in the facility they live in. Grandpa has Alzheimer's, but remembered each of us as we came to enjoy the festivities. It was fun to watch him because at times he'd be sort of lost with what was going on in the room around him, but all of a sudden you'd see a light sort of go on in his mind and his eyes would light up and he'd break out in a big grin and say, "Remember when..." and share some great memory from the past. It was especially fun to get him singing. He loves to sing and frequently sings old songs to the delight of the other residents of the nursing home--especially the women. :) Friday morning my mom and I went to the store and got balloons, cake, ice cream, etc. and brought a party back to the nursing home. Luckily, my cousin Pam and her husband, Dorsey, and my Uncle Larry and his wife, Gloria, were able to join us for the afternoon, too. I had not seen them in 14 years, so that was a real treat. Many family members had sent cards, presents and flowers, so it was a wonderful day for Grandma and she loved having family gathered around.

What fun pictures! Looks like it was a really nice visit. Short, but sometimes those are the best I think! Love you! Thanks for sharing. Alicia
To me Art looks just like he did 57 years ago. How neat you could see them both. Dad
I'm so glad you got to visit with them! What a treasure to spend that time together. It is interestng how Grandpa does look exactly like he always has.
